How does Primer contamination occur?
When you apply the primer onto the nail the primer brush collects debris. This debris or dust is then transferred back into the primer with each application, therefore weakening the primer solution.
As a result of this lifting problems can occur. How do you know your primer is contaminated?
Lift the bottle up to the light & check for cloudiness, smokiness or grainy particles in the primer. Generally the smell of the primer is weaker also. How to avoid Primer contamination
With all brands of primer it is highly recommended that you decant ¼ of the primer into a totally clean primer bottle.
Use a primer brush or the brush that is in the lid & use this primer.
Use until empty or until you see any signs of contamination.
Store the original bottle in a cool dark cupboard. What is the shelf life?
Generally 3 - 6 months depending on how often it is used.
The original primer (the bottle you decant from), can be stored for up to 12 months.
